Proud Sponsor of Girls Inc
The Brockville MediSpa is delighted to be partnering with Girls Inc. Girls Inc. is an organization dedicated to helping girls grow up brave, bold, smart, strong, and confident. It seeks to challenge gender stereotypes and empower girls to believe in themselves and their abilities. Girls Inc. wants to overturn notions of “femininity” and limiting ideals of what a girl or woman should and shouldn’t do.
The Brockville MediSpa will be supporting Girls Inc. in a series of events throughout the year. To start off, we will be donating a dollar for every Like on our Facebook page for the first 150 Likes.
During the rest of the year, we will be taking part in some of their events. We will also be donating a percentage of product sales to them, to help them with the great work they are doing. After the resounding success of our Swan Open House last week, we have donated $300 from our skincare sales over to the organization, enough to sponsor two girls for their summer program.
Girls Inc. support a network of local non-profit organizations delivering programs for girls in schools. These programs feature research-based curricula, delivered by trained professionals. They aim to equip girls to achieve academically; lead healthy and physically active lives; manage money; navigate media messages; and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. The local Girls Inc. nonprofit organizations reach some 150,000 girls in 350 cities across Canada and the US. They also hold events celebrating women who have made positive contributions to their communities – such as “Strong, Smart, and Bold” Women of the Year. They run a summer program of day camps with empowering activities for girls, organize hockey tournaments in the spring, and golf tournaments in the summer.
Girls Inc. originated in 1979 as the Big Sisters Association of Leeds and Grenville and has been funded since 1980 by United Way. They have set out an inspirational Girls’ Bill of Rights:
– Girls have the right to be themselves and to resist gender stereotypes.
– Girls have the right to express themselves with originality and enthusiasm.
– Girls have the right to take risks, to strive freely, and to take pride in success.
– Girls have the right to accept and appreciate their bodies.
– Girls have the right to have confidence in themselves and to be safe in the world.
– Girls have the right to prepare for interesting work and economic independence.
The Brockville MediSpa is delighted to be able to support such a girl-positive organization doing such fantastic work for girls, not just in Brockville but across the country.
