BELKYRA™ TREATMENT IN BROCKVILLE, ONTARIO
Belkyra™ (called Kybella® in the USA), is a pharmaceutical solution that’s injected under the skin to dissolve fat and reduce the double chin. Belkyra™ is Health Canada approved for contouring the lower face by removing unwanted fat cells and creating a more defined chin and jawline.
Belkyra’s uses deoxycholic acid to break down fat. It’s a lecithin-type chemical substance, also referred to as a naturally occurring bile salt. Belkyra™ is a synthetic version of this molecule that our body produces naturally when we lose weight.
Since the body recognizes this molecule as being natural, the chances of developing a serious reaction is very unlikely. When injected under the skin, Belkyra™goes to work immediately to destroy fat cells. Results from each treatment take approximately 12-16 weeks and are permanent.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The number of treatments required depends of the level of correction required. Many patients can see a noticeable improvement after 2-4 sessions. For some individuals up to 6 treatments may be necessary to achieve satisfactory results.
How is Belkyra™ Administered?
The doctor first marks a gridlike pattern under your chin using a stencil. Then a series of injections are administered in the marked areas when unwanted fat cells are located. Each Belkyra™ session normally takes 15-20 minutes and most patients can return to work right after.
Belkyra™ Recovery
Immediately after treatment there can be swelling and some discomfort at the injection site. Most patients find that the downtime is minimal and occurs most commonly after the first treatment. If you have a special occassion booked then we recommend scheduling your treatments at least 4-6 weeks before or after.
Belkyra™ Safety and Risks
As with all injectable treatments, it’s possible to experience some side-effects with Belkyra™. The most common are swelling, bruising, pain and numbness. These are perfectly normal and an indication that the procedure is working. Most side-effects resolve themselves after several weeks.
