LASER HAIR REMOVAL IN BROCKVILLE, ONTARIO
IPL Technology Removes Unwanted Facial and Body Hair
Hair removal using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology involves deploying broadband pulsed light onto the skin’s surface. This broad spectrum IPL energy targets and damages the melanin in the hair follicles, quite often resulting in permanent decrease in hair density and growth.
Best Candidates for IPL Hair Removal
IPL hair reduction works best on lighter skin types and darker hair. Although we can still treat individuals outside these parameters there are some limitations which can mean using lower settings and thus having more treatments to achieve the desired results. For example, in the case of darker skin types there’s less contrast there is between melanin in the skin and the hair follicle. This can increase the chances of complications such as burning and discolouration.
Additionally, those with lighter hair (grey, red and blonde) may not achieve the desired results with IPL hair reduction. The best way to learn if you’re a good candidate for IPL is to schedule a consultation with one of our laser hair removal technicians.
How does IPL work?
IPL targets the dark pigment called melanin in your hair follicle. Melanin is particularly plentiful at the base of the hair root and provides an excellent target for the powerful pulses of energy emitted by the IPL device. As the light is absorbed by the melanin it heats up and causes a controlled damage to the area. A few days to weeks following treatment the hair will fall out. Multiple sessions are necessary to achieve a more permanent hair reduction.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
IPL hair removal is an ongoing process that can take months and sometimes years. Treatments are performed every 4-6 weeks and often maintenance sessions are necessary to keep the skin hair-free.

The following conditions are contraindicated for IPL:

- Tanned skin – IPL cannot be done on tanned or sunburnt skin.
- Pregnancy – IPL is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Tattoos – Tattooed skin should not be treated with IPL
- Moles – IPL is not safe or suitable for removing mole hairs
